Camp Location

Bloemenkamp was a residential neighborhood in the north-eastern district of Bandoeng, enclosed by Riouw-straat, Nassaulaan, a stretch of Magazijnstraat and a small section of Groote Postweg. Bloemenkamp was an offshoot of the Tjihapit camp. On August 12, 1943, all internees of the Tjihapit camp residing in the area west of Riouwstraat, were forced into the area east of Riouwstraat (about 1600 people). The newly-vacated space was subsequently referred to as Bloemenkamp. On August 25, 1943, Bloemenkamp was further divided into two parts, north and south, separated by gedek on Orchideelaan. Yet another division occurred later on, so the net result was three sections.
