Goenoeng Haloe
August 17, 2012
Camp Location
Tjimahi was about 10 kilometers west of Bandoeng. The former Goenoeng Haloe tea plantation was located about 30 kilometers southwest of the city, at the foot of Kendeng mountain, at an altitude of about 1000 meters. The camp consisted of three locations: the main camp Goenoeng Haloe (with approximately 200 internees), but also nearby Tjitjalobak and Montaja.
This camp was an agricultural colony (“oebi” sweet potatoes and vegetables) for Indo-European boys. There were a few Indo-European women (with their children) to tend the kitchen and provide medical care.
As this camp filled up, a second camp, Pasir Benteng, was opened.
